Four full days of Maned Wolf photography
The habitat around the Wolf Camps is home to the charismatic Maned Wolves, a mammal I remember form my childhood when it was labelled slightly inaccuratly as the second fastest land predator after the cheetah. This is also the famous as the location to see the famous ‘Nutcracker Monkeys’, bearded capuchin monkeys who have learnt to use hammer rocks to crack palm nuts they place on sandstone anvil rocks. This is the first documented use of tools by wild monkeys. The beautiful Hyacinth macaw is found here, often in large flocks of 40-100, which look stunning against the backdrop of deep red cliffs. Red and green and blue and gold macaws are also see here, as are howler monkeys, rheas, great potoos, jaguars and burrowing owls.

Overnight again at Brasilia Palace.

Fly to Cuiaba and drive to Pouso Alegre
You can think of the northern Pantanal as consisting of the drier northern region where lodges like Pouso Alegre give you a genuine chance to see species like Ocelot, Crab-eating foxes, Armadillo and both species of Anteater and the wetter southern section, where the Transpanteneria road comes to an abrupt end at Porto Jofre and where the Jaguar is the King of everything it surveys. Firstly, you will spend 2 nights in the drier sector at Pouso Alegre ranch on a full board basis.
