Cheap Polar Bear Tour to Churchill by train

Relaxed evening to meet the group and your UK tour leader, who has been travelling to Churchill since 2006.

Overnight: The Grand Winnipeg

Downtown is just a short cheap taxi fare away and you can explore the French quarter, the Forks and museums before returning to board the bus from the airport.

Our bus will arrive into Thompson around 09:00 and we will have until the early evening to explore. The VIA train to Churchill departs at approximately 5pm.

We will arrive into Churchill at approximately 09:00 and in the afternoon be taken for a guided town tour of Churchill. Night time hoping to see Aurora but chances are less in November. We got lucky last year while dog sledding!

Overnight: Simple Churchill Motel, including breakfast and dinner each day

Short walk from hotel to the Frontiers North gift shop by 07:30, where you will be collected for a full day Tundra Buggy Tour (departing at 08:00 – lunch included) looking for Polar Bears, Arctic Fox, Ptarmigan and other wildlife out on the tundra to the east of Churchill.

At approximately 09:00 you will be collected from your hotel for a full day ‘Road and Trails’ tour (please take your own water, hot drink and lunch). Chances to see Ptarmigan, Polar Bears, Red Fox, Arctic Hare and Artic Fox.

Generally these tours are full so it is always important to be respectfull to other passengers aboard. Use cameras with bean bags for extra stability as there is no room for tripods or additional gear. It’s a long day with multiple polar bear sightings so everyone will enjoy a close encounter.

Full day free for your own activities in Churchill with options to visit the Parks Canada Interpretive Centre and the excellent Eskimo Museum. For safety it is important to keep within the park boundaries where you can sometimes see Arctic Hares and Red Fox. We can book an additional 4X4 trip but you will pay direct.

We approach all our wildlife excursions in an ethical manner with safety always first priority for our clients. Some polar bears are more curious than others, and we don’t want our behaviour to change theirs. However it is thrilling to be able to stand next to the vehicle and photograph them at eye level. We arrive at around 11:00am and it is then a long bus journey back to Winnipeg with an arrival after midnight so make sure you have snacks and drinks.
