Quetzals, Humpbacks & Tapir

Our quest for not only a good location in Costa Rica to see Tapir, but also how to organise the day by day activities, has been a long but enjoyable one for Wildlife Trails. There are many companies who talk about ‘the chance’ to see Tapir, but 90% of the time you are going to be disappointed. We realised that the Osa Peninusula was one of the best places to see Tapir in Costa Rica, but without our clients pre-booking specific wildlife trails with expert guides, their chances would still be quite low. So, this tour not only gives you the best chance to see Tapir when visiting Costa Rica, but also includes some amazing Humpbacj, Dolphin and Quetzal action enroute. Enjoy the ride!

San Gerardo de Dota is home to a large population of one of the most beautiful birds in the Americas, the Resplendent Quetzal. From the Trogoniade Family and sacred bird to the ancient indigenous cultures, Quetzals have a peaceful and tranquil living in the area and reside here year round. The climate and good amount of food (Aguacatillo tree) provide a great habitat for these birds.

DAY 4

Bahía Ballena lies within the marine boundaries of the Marino Ballena national park, which was created in 1990 to protect coral and rock reefs in 5375 hectares of ocean around the Isla Ballena. The island has nesting colonies of magnificent frigate birds, blue-footed boobies, and other seabirds, as well as many green iguanas and basilisk lizards.

MULTIPLE MARINE SMALL BOAT SAFARIS

During the tour we search for Humpback Whales (seasonally) and two different species of resident Dolphins. When granted the opportunity, you might see and hear the song of the Humpback Whales and/ or observe the acrobatic displays of the dolphins making this trip the best whale watching tour in Costa Rica for consistent quality sightings.
