DAY 1

ARRIVE IN THE CAPITAL AND OVERNIGHT

On arrival in the capital of Madagascar, Antananarivo, you will be met by our local agents and transferred just 15 minutes to the ‘San Cristobal Hotel’ for your overnight accommodation.

Accommodation : San Cristobal Hotel

DAY 2

FLIGHT FROM TANA TO DIEGO IN THE NORTH

Morning flight from the capital Antananarivo to Diego, where you will be met and transferred 45 minutes to the beautifully situated ‘Nature Lodge’ close to Amber Mountain national park. Enjoy a welcome drink before being settling into your beautiful bungalow, with a private balcony overlooking the hills and the distant ocean). After lunch drive a further 10-15 minutes for the start point of your afternoon walk; with the focus on finding and photographing both Sandford and Crowned Lemurs.

Accommodation : Nature Lodge

DAY 3

MORNING LEMUR WATCHING THEN NIGHT TIME WALK

Early start to beat the crowds, as you spend around 3-4 hours gentle walking through Amber Mountain national parks with the focus on seeing as many Lemur species as possible. In the early evening you will head to the charming old Villa of ‘Domaine de Fontenay’; where you will enjoy a night time safari in their private grounds, looking for different chameleons and geckos – Bambo Lemurs are also active at night.

DAY 4

DRIVE TO BLACK LEMUR CAMP

After breakfast you will drive down from Nature Lodge and follow the main highway east towards Black Lemur Camp. This lodge is beautifully designed and has stunning views back to Amber Mountain and is situated in close proximity to multiple Black Lemur groups. You will have time for both an afternoon guided walk and a night time walk; where often Bamboo Lemurs can be seen very close to the lodge.

Accommodation : Black Lemur Camp

DAYS 5&6

TWO FULL DAYS OF LEMUR WATCHING

Wow what an amazing location to wake up in, with your own private balcony overlooking secondary forest where resident lemurs often come to feed just as the sun is coming up. From the lodge thee are various walking trails into the forest to see not only the famous Black Lemurs, but many other species and the night time walks can be very eventful.

DAY 7

TRANSFER TO ANKARANA NATIONAL PARK

Ankarana national park is a bit of an outlier and the accommodation options are more limited. However, because the Lemurs are more used to the presence of humans and they are found in both the forest and amazing Grey Tsingy formations, the photography opportunities – both wildlife and landscape – are amazing.

Accommodation : Ankarana Lodge

DAY 8

TRANSFER BY ROAD AND BOAT TO NOSY SAKATIA

It is really hard to explain how special and untouched Nosy Sakatia is to someone who has not visited northern Madagascar. You see it immediately as you walk from the beach into the water and sea grass is even growing in the shallow water. A few minutes later you are snorkeling with huge Green Turtles and in October you have the chance to see both Humpback Whales and Whale Sharks just a few hundred metres off shore – a marine wildlife paradise!

Accommodation : Sakatia Lodge

DAYS 9-11

THREE DAYS OF LIVING ON AN ISLAND PARADISE

Three days to relax or go crazy with amazing activities from the lodge. The lodges prefer to take booking direct for the various tours it organises, but the good news is that none of them are very expensive, with whale watching tours around 70USD per person. It is also free to snorkel from their private beach and the experience with the Green Turtles is just mesmerising. They also offer the whale watching tours for Humpbacks and Whale Sharks and the trip out to Turtle Island for the protected marine park. Walk around the island and you have the chance to see Lemurs and interesting bird life.
