Azores Whale Watching Holidays
The Azores is one of the best places to see whales and dolphins in Europe and the island of Pico is world famous as one of the best locations to see Blue Whales; particularly in the months of April and May. However, Pico has a long whale watching season from April to October and the magnificent Sperm Whale is another species which visits the waters off this beautiful island, with the famous Pico Volcano providing a stunning backdrop to your activities. Over 20 species of whales and dolphins either inhabit or pass by these waters along their migratory routes, so that Pico is one of the very best spots in the world for Whale Watching.

JUNE 10-12
THREE DAYS OF MORNING AND AFTERNOON WHALE WATCHING SAFARIS
We will aim to make six half-day whale-watching trips during the tour, in 7.5 metre-long semi-rigid (Zodiac-style) inflatable boats built for 10 persons; but we will only have 7 in our group including the tour leader. Depending on where the whales and dolphins are and weather conditions these trips normally last approximately 3 hours and we go out at 9am and 2pm
JUNE 13-15
BACKUP DAYS AND LAND BASED TOUR.
These 3 days are very important in any whale watching tour in the Azores, as they give us both backup days for weather affected trips, as well as a chance to go on a guided tour of part of the island, including a visit to the famous whale watching lookout at ‘Vigia’. Also options to join me in climbing Pico Volcano, or enjoy your own private tours to the Unesco wineries. local villages or a visit to the famous lava tubes at Algar do Carvão.

FLY FROM PICO TO LISBON
When appropriate we will take a shared taxi to the airport and connect with a flight to Lisbon. On arrival we will take a shuttle to an airport hotel (a town hotel can be substituted for those keen to explore Lisbon in more depth)
