With precision planning, booking mobile camps in the northern Serengeti so we can be right in the middle of the action and then organising a bush flight from the Serengeti to Kenya's magnificent Masai Mara; we combine small group safaris in both Tanzania and Kenya, for this great migration special.

This is a Small Group Tour

  1. Day 1

On arrival at Arusha airport you will be met and transferred to the Northern Serengeti, where you will check into the Mara Kati Kati (full board basis). Enjoy your first afternoon safari in the Serengeti

  2. Days 2-4

Three full days of morning and afternoon game drive in the northern Serengeti, with our camp located to the famous Mara river. The vast, rolling savannah of the Northern Serengeti, is known as the hub of the great migration. The landscape is characterised by vast stretches of savannah interspersed with acacia trees and riverine woodlands. Wildlife can be seen along the banks of the Mara River and visitors can view the annual spectacle of the half a million migrating wildebeest. Commonly spotted wildlife include: a multitude of plains game such as buffalo, zebra, gazelles, impala, giraffe as well as lion and leopard. Visitors can look forward to bird watching, hot air ballooning, game safaris and guided bush walks.

  3. Day 5

After breakfast, depart for Kogatende airstrip for local flight to Maasai Mara. On arrival at the Ol Kiombo airstrip, you will be met and transferred to ‘Ashnil Mara Lodge’ (full board basis). Enjoy your first jeep safari in the spectacular Masai Mara; famous for its big cat sightings.

  4. Days 6-8

After breakfast you will have morning and afternoon game drive with hot lunch at camp (or take a full day game drive with packed lunches). The Masai Mara together with Tanzania’s Serengeti form Africa’s most famous wildlife park, the Masai Mara National Reserve. The image of acacia trees dotting endless grass plains epitomises Africa for many, then add a Maasai warrior and some cattle to the picture and the conversation need go no further. The undeniable highlight of the Masai Mara National Reserve is undoubtedly the annual wildebeest migration traversing the vast plains of the Serengeti and the Masai Mara. It is known as the largest mass movement of land mammals on the planet – with more than a million animals following the rains. Large prides of lions, elephants, giraffes, gazelles and eland can also be spotted in the reserve

  5. Day 9

After breakfast depart with packed lunch and have a morning game drive. Later exit the reserve and drive to Nairobi arriving in time for dinner at Ole Sereni Hotel’s Big5 restaurant. Later transfer to Jomo Kenyatta airport for your onward flight home
