Top 2: Ranthambhore and Bandhavgarh Tiger Safari
11 days from £2010*
Explore beyond the tiger dynasty in Ranthambhore, looking out for Arrow-Head, Lightning, Noor, Krishna, Dollar-male (etc etc...tigers in all 10 zones), plus the sheer diversity of wildlife from tiny chinkara to mythical looking blackbuck and nilgai, and a realistic chance of sloth bear, never mind an impressive list of resident birds including woodpeckers and kingfishers, ibis and raptors (most winter migrants will have departed). Add to this the stunning cliff-top fort with views across the parks main lakes, and the colourful Rajasthani tribal villages.
Then journey onward to Bandhavgarh, looking for Jaya and her grown up cubs, amongst 3 or 4 new litters of cubs; the death of Bhamera has seen three young male tigers take up the challenge to become the dominant male in the tourism zone - previously the title held by legendary the Charger, B2 and more latterly Bhamera of course! Bandhavgarh isn't without it's own historic highlights from it's own cliff-top fort and numerous centuries old sculptures, including a 35 foot reclining statue of Lord Vishnu said to date from the 10th Century (in the prime Tala zone).
