India tiger safari Tadoba national park grey langurs

Overview

Kanha National Park has been claimed to be the setting for Rudyard Kipling's 'The Jungle Book' (alongside Pench), and certainly a safari here will offer a good chance to see most of the main characters (need to get to Borneo of course to find 'King Louie'!). Kanha is however not all about tigers; with larger water bodies and varying terrain types you should find larger mixed herds of herbivores including barasingha that is rarely found elsewhere (gaur, sambar, spotted deer and of course langurs keeping watch above), the bird list is impressive, and you have a realistic chance of sighting dhole (wild dog), leopards and sloth bear.
