Tadoba, Kanha and Bandhavgarh Safaris, with Ranthambhore
16 days from £3480*
A chance to discover tigers at home in four different National Parks, looking for Maya in Tadoba (following her growing cubs fathered by Matsukar in 2018?), Jaya and her grown up cubs in Bandhvagarh, and in Ranthambhore with Noor, Arrow-Head, Lightning, Krishna (etc etc...tigers in all 10 zones - more visible in 1 to 7 last season).
But it's not only about tigers, there is an impressive diversity of mammals and other wildlife, with gaur seen in Tadoba, Kanha and increasingly in Bandhavgarh, wild dog also in Tadoba and Kanha, sloth bears likely to be more active in April (looking for fruit, flowers and termites) and each park has areas more likely to reveal leopards - usually away from prime tiger territories of course! Then you have the bird life, from hornbills and woodpeckers to kingfishers, ibis, owls and fly-catchers, while most migrants have left there is an impressive list of residents.
Dates have been chosen to avoid the noisier crowds during Holi and Easter, safely in between the peak visitor periods. With the inncreasing dry heat of April, the vegetation becomes more sparse and with water sources declining the mammals are drawn to the remaining lakes, streams and water holes providing exciting opportunities for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers. Don't worry this is not a hard-core tiger-centric photo tour, you will have time to relax by the swimming pool between safaris and to explore some of the local culture and history along your way.
