Bird watching in Occitanie

There are many superb birding locations in France, but there are few which can rival Occitanie for diversity of habitats, number of species and of course the sheer simple pleasures of its food and wine; which you will enjoy under a clear blue Mediterranean sky. Occitanie is a huge region and within it there are 3 distinct climatic zones; the cooler and moist climate to the far west affected by the Atlantic, the majestic mountain climate of the Pyranees and the warm, dry Mediterranean coastline, with its many etangs (inland water bodies) which explode into life during the spring breeding season. It is also a key region for spring and autumn migration for birds from Europe to Africa and this can be particularly spectacular in the months of September and October.
