Alaska Bear safari photographing Brown and Black Bears
8 days from £2250*
We have put together an adventerous budget Alaska bear safari which allows you to see two of Alaskas bear species. Infact, it is pretty rare to see brown and black bears together due to the significant size different between the species and the fact that in most locations where brown bears fish for salmon you will not find black bears there; as it could result in them being attacked. However, this amazing safari takes you to Wrangell Island where it is actually common to see both black bears and brown bears fishing for the salmon. They may occupy different sections of the river, but when we visited in July 2016, we did indeed see both species. On the first leg of this Alaska wildlife holiday you will spend 4 nights in Juneau and enjoy a spectacular floatplane journey to Pack Creek. This is Alaskan wildife in the raw and on a good day you can observe multiple bears fishing for salmon in the creek, before taking a short to medium walk through old growth forest to an observation platform above the river. Juneau is world famous for viewing Humpbacks bubble netting, as well as full body breeches and if you come in July/early August you will increase your chances of witnessing such interesting whale behaviour.
