Overview

Gorilla Trekking in Uganda in style and comfort

There is a tendancy for many operators in Uganda to stick to the tried and tested mainstream lodges, which although they may be well located do not have that 'wow' factor which takes your gorilla trekking experience in Uganda to the next level. We want our choice of wildlife lodges in Uganda to inspire and thrill our clients and through our own recce trips to this beautiful country we have hand picked a selection which we are sure you will love. I can truely say that when we drove over the hill and saw for the first time Kyaninga Lodge's individual cottages, stretched out before us along the rim of an extinct volcano, we were absolutely stunned and had to stop the vehicle to take photos. Physical beauty and a feeling of space and intimacy are factors we look for when choosing the best Uganda wildlife lodges, so this was a reason we started promoting Katara Lodge in Queen Elizabeth national park. Although Katara is more remote and further from some of the main entrance gates at Queen Elizabeth, it's elevated location and simple elegance combined with wonderful service make it a great choice.

The journey from Queen Elizabeth national park to Nukuringo is a long and tiring one, but what awaits you more than makes up for the rigours of the drive. Stunningly located on the impressive Nteko ridge at an altitude of more than 2000M, you really are up in the clouds here and if the weather is kind a short walk can provide incredible views of the 8 Volcanoes which form the border between Uganda, Rwanda and the Congo. Clouds Lodge has a colonial style and ambiance and is designed to provide space and comfort to guests looking to go gorilla trekking with the famous Nkuringo gorilla family. There are also short walks or even longer treks to Lake Mutanda which can be organised from this remote location.

Your final stop on this beautiful gorilla trekking safari through Uganda is Lake Mburo which is very much a park in recovery as they look to stabailise prey populations and increase the resident leopard population. One of the big attractions about Lake Mburo is Mihingo Lodge, with it's rocky outcrop position high above the park and the opportunities to take walking safari, boat safaris and nigh time drives for leopard. This greater variety of wildlife activities in a national park in Uganda is unique and it's position half way between to SW border of Uganda and Kampala ensures a restorative stop for clients who have been on the road for several hours. Finally you will drive back to Entebbe international airport and say farewell to this beautiful country; but your gorilla trekking in Uganda will live long in the memory.
