Tiger Safari in India visiting Kanha and Bandhavgarh National Parks
12 days from £1250*
Overview
Tiger Safari in Kanha and Bandhavgarh links together two of the most famous tiger sanctuaries in India; Bandhavgarh and Kanha. Bandhavgarh National Park has always attracted a lot of international attention, due to the many famous photographers who have visited and captured thrilling images of charismatic tigers, such as Charger and B2; male tigers with a penchant for charging tourists on elephant back to show who was the ‘King of the Jungle’. If you were to choose a park and area to visit to maximise your chances of close tiger encounters, then the Tala zone in Bandhavgarh would be that place.
A visit to the Mukki side of Kanha National Park is a more relaxed affair, as there are fewer lodges compared to Kisli, and there has always been a focus here on general wildlife viewing, rather than just tigers. This has resulted in some the the best run small scale wildlife lodges in India and a quality, rather than quantity, approach to viewing tigers. Elephant shuttles to see the tigers have now been banned in both Bandhavgarh and Kanha, with the only option for clients to rent an elephant privately. Wildlife Trails were never happy with the way Elephants were pushed towards tigers by their Mahouts (often at the bequest of tourists) and are happy that this activity has been stopped.
