Day 3, 4, 5
morning and afternoon private jeep safaris inside Yala National Park
morning jeep safari and later transfer via the Maligawila Buddha statue to the ‘Stardust Beach Resort’ at Arugam Bay
Day 7, 8, 9
three full days to relax and enjoy this chilled out location, popular with watersports enthusiasts
morning drive north-west to the ‘Rangala House’ at Udispattuwa, near Kandy
visit the Knuckles range of mountains, or explore the local tea plantation tracks, rich in bird, amphibian and reptile species
you have time to explore Kandy and its lakeside before continuing via the spice plantations of Matale to the ‘Giritale Hotel’, near Polonnaruwa
morning guided tour of Polonnaruwa (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and later visit Minneriya or Kaudulla National Park (according to recent herd movements)
take your time over the journey West to Negombo, stopping to visit Dambulla and/ or Sigiriya along the way. Overnight at the ‘Jetwing Lagoon’
transfer to the airport and bid a reluctant farewell to your driver and to Sri Lanka
Accommodation: a private tour throughout, tried and tested hotels and lodges, with upgrade options on request. Half-board at Yala and Giritale, full-board at Rangala House, breakfast only in Galle, Arugam Bay and Negombo.
AC car and driver for round trip transfers. Private standard safari jeep with local park guide. It is possible to upgrade to a deluxe jeep at Yala, and/ or to be accompanied throughout by a specialist naturalist.
