Sri Lanka safari with Kandy, Hill Country and Sinharaja
11 days from £2350*
Sri Lanka safari, with leopard safaris at Yala as the main focal point, begin with a taste of Sri Lanka’s history and culture in Kandy before enjoying the stunning landscape as you pass through the Hill Country with a full day visit to Horton Plains. During your Yala stay as well as enjoying a wealth of mammal species inside the main park you will also visit the nearby Tissa Wetlands; the two ‘wewas’ (artificial lakes) form a bird sanctuary that also attracts crocodile, elephants and monkeys, specialities include Black Bittern and Streaked Weaver.
In Sinharaja’s lowland rainforest, as well as viewing several rare endemic birds and large mixed bird flocks, you have the chance to walk inside the park to view a rich diversity of plant life, reptiles and amphibians. Now that there are some more stylish properties ‘nearby’ (around 30 mins from the entrance) this unique wildlife destination is not necessarily just for the hard core birder.
A final transfer back to Colombo to connect with your international flight home brings you to the end of your Sri Lanka safari.
