Overview

Iberian Lynx Wildlife Tour - one of the rarest cats in the world and have generally been regarded as very challenging to view in the wild. However a combination of recent conservation initiatives in Spain, depopulation of rural Spain and a strong passion for this beautiful cat from local wildlife guides, has resulted in increased knowledge of its few remaining strongholds. Wildlife Trails has teamed up with a lcoal Spanish wildlife company with many years of leading successful tours to this beautiful region. So join Wildlife Trails on this special Wildlife Holiday in Spain.

Itinerary

This is a Small Group Tour

  1. 1

Arrive in Malaga where you will be transferred to heart of the Sierra de Andujar Natural Park, where you will overnight in a charming mid-range guesthouse. First chance to visit key habitat for Lynx in the surrounding area.

  2. 2

We shall be spending every early morning and late afternoon searching for this secretive animal from strategic watchpoints around the sierra. The rest of the time will be spent walking and driving the roads and tracks within the reserve along with time to relax in the afternoon

  3. 3

Same as Day 2. This Natural Park is also home to the magnificent Spanish Imperial Eagle and many other sought-after raptors including Golden Eagle, Black Vulture, Goshawk and Peregrine.

  4. 4

Same as Day 2. If time allows we shall even take a drive up to the Santuario Virgen de la Cabeza – a dramatic & historic building to which there is a pilgrimage in May that’s perched on top of a mountain in the centre of the reserve.

  5. 5

Our final day will be dependant on our success the past few days as there will again be an optional early start to look for Lynx. After breakfast we shall make our way back to Malaga Airport.
