After the success of the trip to Ranthambhore and Tadoba in February 2017, this wildlife and cultural photography tour with Trai Anfield has been extended to include leopard safaris and embellished by the timing of the Holi colour festival.  Trai's expertise as wildlife photographer, film maker, factual production trainer for Channel 4 and presenter of BBC's The Living World, stands her in good stead to help you get the most out of every opportunity whether working in still images or learning to shoot and produce video sequences.

Our first destination is Tadoba national park in Maharashtra, where we will stay at the lovely Svasara resort and have access to two of the main entry gates into the park. This provides greater flexibility on our daily safari drives to visit different areas of the park and if we are lucky the chance to see wild dogs and sloth bears, as well as the resident tigers including 'superstar' tigress Maya.

Rajasthan is famous around the world for its hill top forts, lake palaces, opulent havelis and unchanged rural way of life, so we have created a tour which allows 3 nights at the intimate Varawal Leopard Camp and 3 nights at a restored heritage haveli in Udaipur with views of the Lake Palace.  Here you will explore quintessential tribal villages and track some of the 40+ leopards that make the Bera area their kingdom, and later get caught up in the colour of exuberance of the Holi festival in the lake city, an unrivalled opportunity for spectacular cultural photography.

We finally end our safaris at Ranthambhore tiger sanctuary; a national park which Wildlife Trails have been visiting since 1997 and have helped pioneer specialist tours outside of the park itself to give our clients a more rounded and rich experience. As well as the daily morning and afternoon tiger safaris inside Ranthambhore national park, we will undertake private excursions to tribal villages, lakes and buffer areas of the park; which themselves are full of life; whether that be a group of ladies in their resplendent saris bringing in the winter crop, or nocturnal wildlife such as Indian Fox or Hyena scavenging on the dry scrublands outside of the villages. We head to Lake Surwal to see hundreds of migratory birds and the village of Devpura to observe the elegant and shy Black Buck Antelope. All of these activities are done at a gentle pace with your own local private guide and with a focus on taking our time to appreciate and photograph these unique rural scenes.
