India wildlife tour looking for Snow Leopards in the beautiful Indian Himalayas
During the winter when Snow Leopards come down to lower elevations following their favourite prey; Blue Sheep. This means that travellers who can handle the cold do not have to trek as high during the winter and have a much greater chance of sightings than any other time of year. Wildlife Trails organised their first Snow Leopard small group tour (led by the owner of the company, Allan Blanchard) in February 2012 and enjoyed an incredible 7 sightings - a record for that winter - and followed up with another 7 individuals (including mating pair and mother with cub!) in February 2013. It is essential to have the best possible local guides and a team ethic of constant surveillance and patience. A group visited just before our stay and saw none of these beautiful cats; I can only put that down to bad luck and a lack of daily treks to the best viewing points - the more you put in, the more you get out. So join Wildlife Trails on this very special India wildlife tour to see the majestic Snow Leopard.
