Accomodation

Based on our considerable first hand experience of staying in Indian accommodation since 97, we made the decision early on in the company's life that we would only deal with mid-range properties and above, as there is a direct correlation between hygiene levels and the quality of a hotel.

Wildlife tours are by their very nature active holidays and the last thing you want is to be struck down by a bad stomach upset in the middle of your trip. The beauty of India is the sheer variety of accommodation options available to suit all types with varying budgets and the fact that good quality clean mid-range accommodation is very reasonably priced.

We aim to seek out properties whose management share our vision and passion for wildlife conservation and social eco-development.

Several of the lodges we utilise at the National Parks have their own charities or local projects which they support with bother their time and money. They have also helped Tiger Trails with our charity (The Tiger Trails Foundation) with both advice and help with funding our projects. For example our main property in Ranthambhore supplies gas cylinders for our generator which powers the computer network we set up in Ranwal Village in 2006.

We have an obligation to our clients to spend time with them choosing the right property and right location for their particular tour. Some clients love the atmosphere and aesthetics of a tented camp and are keen to make use of this type of property at as many of the National Parks as possible. Some parks have much less accommodation at particular gates, giving the visitor a more tranquil and exclusive experience; again as regular visitors to the region we are well placed to give up to the minute advice on the right option for you.

The bottom line is that there is no point putting together an incredible wildlife tour if the accommodation you choose is not of the standard expected by international visitors. Two safaris everyday is both exhilarating and tiring at the same time and the importance of coming back to a homely quality lodge or camp cannot be underestimated.

Aside from the wildlife there is an incredible number of historic palaces, forts and havelis that have been converted into stunning accommodation; especially in states such as Rajasthan. It is a real privilege to stay in such locations and we strongly recommend taking some time to explore these gems; many of which are rarely visited by the mainstream tourists. Again we are always here to talk to you about a special place that would really add to your tour of India.
